The ACVO TSI communications team is proud to share the first 2026 edition of ACVO News - a free digital magazine showcasing the work, achievements and opportunities from Aberdeen’s third sector.
From inspiring community stories to essential updates, ACVO News is a key platform in promoting the vibrant work of third sector organisations in the city. The monthly publication also features the latest funding opportunities, volunteering roles, events and vacancies as well as sharing important insights from the ACVO team.
In this edition, ACVO outline their plans for 2026 - a continued focus on bringing people together, strengthening collaboration, expanding forums and networks and showcasing the impact of the third sector.
Maggie Hepburn, ACVO Chief Executive, says: “With 2026 now underway, we reflect on what lies ahead and the shared priorities shaping our work this year.
“A central theme running through this issue is the importance of listening to, connecting with and amplifying community voices - something that sits at the heart of ACVO’s work and underpins our focus for the year ahead.”
Also in this month’s news, ACVO say a fond farewell to Finance Manager Paul Dixon who retires after more than six years with the team. Paul has played a key role in keeping ACVO on a strong financial footing while helping to deliver vital funding programmes in Aberdeen.
The publication also shares the latest insights from members of the ACVO team - Alasdair Ross reflects on recent work bringing third sector voices into national climate change discussions, while Mike Melvin shares a positive update on volunteering as 2026 is recognised as the UN’s International Volunteer Year.
Other third sector updates this month include:
- New community fitness mascots Dee and Don are unveiled by Sport Aberdeen, helping to promote inclusive and active lifestyles in the city.
- Befriend a Child celebrate the amazing success of their 2025 Giving Tree Appeal, which raised over £22,000 to support children and young people locally.
- Sir Alex Ferguson joined supporters at a special VSA fundraising dinner to help raise essential funds for dementia services across the North East.
