A team of runners from Altrad Sparrows took home the inaugural NFU Mutual 10K AGCC Chamber Cup at Run Garioch last Sunday (11 May).
The brand-new competition was open to teams of four from all AGCC member organisations taking part in the event’s NFU Mutual 10K.
With a combined time of 3:00:55, the Aberdeen-based Altrad Sparrows team (Andrew Garvie, Cameron Gow, Jack MacLennan and Jim Moreland) ran well clear of the runners-up, Langstane Housing Association.
Chamber members HCS, Ledingham Chalmers, NFU Mutual Aberdeen City & Shire, Boskalis and CNRL also entered the competition.

Speaking about their victory, Cameron Gow said: “Running as a team was a great experience and to come away with the trophy is beyond our expectations. Both our team and fellow Altrad Sparrows runners thoroughly enjoyed the event, even if it was a bit toasty.”
“A huge thanks to NFU Mutual, AGCC and the event organisers for the invite to race in the inaugural Chamber Cup at Run Garioch! We’re already looking forward to defending our title next year … hopefully with cooler weather!”
After giving it their all under a blazing sun last Sunday, Gow added, “A special shoutout to the amazing people of Inverurie: your cheers and support made all the difference. Extra thanks to those who set up cooling sprinklers along the route. You were lifesavers!”
In addition to adding some silverware to the Altrad Sparrows offices, the team also won a donation of £100 to Cash for Kids, the official Run Garioch charity of their choice, courtesy of NFU Mutual Aberdeen City & Shire.
Stephen Hepburn, Senior Agent at NFU Mutual Aberdeen City & Shire, said: “The whole team at NFU Mutual Aberdeen City & Shire send huge congratulations to the Altrad Sparrows team for a great win last Sunday! We are proud to sponsor this fantastic local event and to donate to Cash for Kids.”
Hepburn added: “We look forward to supporting Run Garioch and the local community in the future.”
