A leading cancer charity is seeking dare devil supporters to take part in a brand new fundraising challenge in Stromness this summer.
CLAN Cancer Support’s first ever sponsored bungee jump will take place on Friday, July 20 and Saturday, July 21 at the South Pier, Stromness.
The charity, which has a base at Victoria Street, Kirkwall, is hoping that brave supporters will take a leap of faith to make the event a huge success.
In association with UK Bungee Club, people will be taken to a platform above South Pier before dropping around 160 feet attached to a bungee.
Karen Scott, CLAN Cancer Support Services Area Manager, is sure the new event will appeal to people throughout Orkney.
She said: “We are thrilled to be able to bring the CLAN Brave the Bounce to Stromness during the 70th anniversary Stromness Shopping Week. There is sure to be a real buzz throughout the town and we are delighted to be adding to the celebrations
“We are always amazed by the challenges CLAN supporters take on to raise awareness of our services and also to raise funds to support or continuing work. I’m sure our bungee jump will really capture the imagination of people right across Orkney to do something very different to support CLAN.
“It might be something you have always wanted to achieve, you might have a special milestone you want to mark during 2018 or get together as a group of friends and take on your biggest fear.
“For whatever reason, what better way to tick bungee jumping off your bucket list than by supporting CLAN in the process. With numbers limited, I’d urge anyone interested to get in touch or sign up now!”
Registration for the jump is now open at www.clanhouse.org. Anyone wishing further information or registration and sponsorship forms can contact CLAN on 01856 873393. Registration for the jump costs £50 with a suggested fundraising target of £100.
