The North-east’s business community is once again showing its support for the region’s third sector by signing up as sponsors of the 2025 Celebrate Aberdeen awards.
Now in its sixth year, the awards ceremony, which will be held on Saturday, November 1st at The Chester Hotel, Aberdeen, recognises and pays tribute to the positive impact individuals, organisations, and volunteers in the third sector make to thousands of lives across Aberdeen City and Shire.
Returning as Gold sponsors again this year are energy sector operators CNR International and CNOOC International who have supported the event since its early days. Other long-standing sponsors and supporters include Cala, Aberdeen Inspired and Hampton with Harbour Energy and Dax Group returning as sponsors for the second year.
The Celebrate Aberdeen Awards are completely funded by sponsors and could not take place without their ongoing support. Thanks to their generosity, finalists and supporters will attend the gala event free of charge, ensuring that no-one is unable to attend because of cost.
Awards will be presented in eight categories, including a new category, Community Impact of the Year, which will recognise a group or organisation that has made a significant and lasting difference in their local community.
Adrian Watson, Aberdeen Inspired; Laura Irving, Harbour Energy; Fraser Carr, Cala; Emily Findlay, Celebrate Aberdeen; Barry Duncan, CNR International; Mark Berry, CNOOC International.
Other categories are Large and Small Organisations of the Year, Volunteer/Fundraiser of the Year,
Young Supporter of the Year, Campaign or Event of the Year, Team of the Year and Heart of the Community.
The awards are open to all third sector organisations in Aberdeen city and shire, including charities, social enterprises, voluntary groups and those who volunteer for third sector organisations. Closing date for nominations is Monday, August 18.
“We’re so grateful that our long-time supporters have come forward again to sponsor our awards ceremony and our Union Street parade,” said Celebrate Aberdeen event director, Emily Findlay. “Without their support the events simply could not take place as we don’t receive funding from any other source. We’re very fortunate that they see the merit in recognising our third sector and all that they do for the rest of us.
“A huge thanks go also to other local businesses that have signed up to sponsor the award categories and to our small team of volunteers who work so hard behind the scenes to plan and run the Celebrate Aberdeen events.”
Barry Duncan, Managing Director & VP Finance, CNR International (UK) Limited, said: “We have supported Celebrate Aberdeen and its events from its inception 14 years ago and it’s a great pleasure to continue to support the awards ceremony. The third sector does a fantastic job, and this gives it some well-deserved recognition, celebrating the commitment and outstanding contribution they make to our society.”
Mark Berry, Manager, Management Systems, CNOOC International, said: “The third sector sits at the heart of local communities across the North-east and plays a vital role in providing much needed help and support to thousands of people. As a long-term supporter of both the awards and the Celebrate Aberdeen parade, we’re thrilled to be partnering with Celebrate Aberdeen once again to recognise and celebrate that contribution.”
The awards will follow on from the Celebrate Aberdeen Parade which will take place on Saturday, August 23, with additional support from Aberdeen City Council.
