A North-east charity has hailed the bravery of three young people who have signed up to take part in a fundraising firewalk.

The trio are all members of a youth group run by North East Sensory Services (NESS), which supports people with sight and hearing loss and helps them live as independently as possible.

The firewalk is designed to help transform fear and inspire people to do things they didn’t think possible, with the charity dubbing the feat the #fearlessNESS challenge.

The event is due to take place at the Aberdeen Science Centre on Sunday, March 1.

The young people taking part are all members of NESS’s Young People’s Sensory Service (YPSS), and are aiming to raise as much money for the charity as they can.

Sheila Ogden, added value services manager at NESS, said: “We are delighted that our young people are so eager to get involved with the fearlessNESS challenge and are fundraising for NESS.

“The event is set to be a real confidence-builder and lots of fun too. NESS are so proud of our youngsters stepping up for NESS at the firewalk.”

The firewalk is being facilitated by Karen Sterling from Blaze, who will run a private training session followed by the walk itself.

There are still spaces available for those ready to take on the #fearlessNESS challenge to help raise funds for the charity through sponsorship.

The NESS fundraising team would be delighted to chat to anyone interested in getting involved.
