Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) North East is hosting two free information events for employers to help them explore how they can connect with, and support, young people.

The DYW North East team will partner with North East Scotland College to host a Foundation Apprenticeship business breakfast on June 14. The event, which will be held in the Gate 63 Restaurant at the College’s city campus, will provide an overview of Foundation Apprenticeships, highlighting opportunities for employers to support senior pupils with the work-based element of their apprenticeship.

Robert Laird, Head of Planning and Academic Partnerships, North East Scotland College said: “We are excited to be working with DYW North East to showcase the benefits of a Foundation Apprenticeship to employers across the region. Foundation Apprenticeships are a fantastic way for employers to engage with and inspire the talented young people who will make up Scotland’s future workforce. Don’t miss this event to find out more about how an FA could benefit your business.”

The following week, DYW North East will host a lunchtime webinar for employers to learn about the Young Person’s Guarantee and how it can be used to plan and structure activities with young people. The session on June 20 will touch on the requirements for joining the Young Person’s Guarantee and the benefits of doing so.

Margo Milne, director, DYW North East said: “Our role is to make it easier for employers in our region to connect with, support and recruit young people. We know that many employers want to get involved but are unsure where to start. These free events will allow them to learn about the different options, as well as the ongoing support that is available from our team.”

Both events are open to employers of all sizes and across all sectors:

Foundation Apprentice Business Breakfast, 14 June 0900-1030hrs

Young Person’s Guarantee Employer Information Webinar, 20 June 1200-1300hrs.
