The Russell Anderson Foundation (RAF) has appointed experienced coach Laura Whitfield into the new role of education and development lead.

Laura, a UEFA B Licence holder, brings over 16 years’ experience in education and community sport, having worked across grassroots, academy and performance pathways. Her previous role was with Aberdeen FC Community Trust, where she led on SQA development pathways for young people, education and community programmes.

“I’m excited to join RAF as I’ve seen first-hand how sport and education can transform confidence, wellbeing, and opportunity for young people. The Foundation’s focus on inclusion and long-term impact resonated with me, and I’m looking forward to continuing to develop programmes that help children across Aberdeen thrive and reach their full potential.” enthused Laura, who enjoys spending time with her family and is passionate about helping young people achieve their best both on and off the pitch.

Chief executive officer Kim Woolner is delighted to welcome Laura to the team.

She said: “Her practical expertise, inclusive approach and deep commitment to relationship-based work makes her a fantastic fit for our mission and the communities we serve.”

Founder Russell believes Laura will add real value to what RAF can offer.

He said: “I know Laura from my time with AFC and how highly regarded she is by everyone, it’s fantastic that she has chosen to experience the next chapter of her career with us and she will complement the team perfectly.”

In addition to her new role, Laura is currently a Lead Coach in the Aberdeen FC Girls Academy and has previously worked with the SFA delivering regional performance squads.
