Budding golfers within the energy industry are set to help raise funds for local charities, as the Aberdeen, Highlands & Islands branch of the Energy Institute (EI) announces the creation of a new fundraising event.
The local branch, which is the largest outside of London, has announced that it will hold its inaugural fundraising golf day at Aberdeen’s par 69, 18-hole Craibstone Golf Course on Friday, September 7 from 9.30am. Teams of four are invited to enter the event which begins with coffee and bacon rolls, ends with a prizegiving and offers abundant networking opportunities throughout the day.
All proceeds from the event will go to Kayleigh’s Wee Stars which makes memories for courageous children, and the Cornerstone Foundation which raises funds to support people seeking to live a valued life.
The branch is already well-known for its busy schedule of events ranging from technical meetings and industry visits to the flagship annual dinner at Aberdeen’s Marcliffe Hotel & Spa.
Branch chairman Laurie Mackay commented: “The local branch of the EI has been a staple industry knowledge, industry best practice and developing skills provider to the energy professional in the local business community for over 30 years.
“We are delighted to add this new event which will benefit our local community and is open to individuals or teams, including those who are not EI members. We hope families, social, business and seasoned golfers can attend.”
Lisa Duthie of The Cornerstone Foundation added: “We are delighted to be one of the charities benefiting from the Energy Institute’s inaugural charity golf event. The money raised from this event will allow us to provide essential equipment and support to local people living with disabilities.”
Pauline Paterson of Kayleigh’s Wee Stars said: “Thank you to the Energy Institute for nominating Kayleigh's Wee Stars as a charity for the annual golf outing this year. Kayleigh's Wee Stars is a local charity that provides financial support to families that have a child with a terminal illness. Every bit of support is vital to help families across Scotland during this difficult time. We are looking forward to being a part of the event this year."
