Asthma and Allergy Foundation, an Aberdeen based charity that provides evidence-based health information, confidential advice and support to people with asthma, their families, carers and friends across the north-east of Scotland are hosting its inaugural Health and Humanitarian Awards.
The awards aim to honour the people who have made a significant contribution to communities. The ceremony will recognise people with a passion for helping others, including those who have invested hugely in creating opportunities to foster people development and organisations, local community groups as well as people whose lifelong commitment have made a significant difference in the provision of effective and efficient social care and healthcare services in our communities.
The event will also celebrate respected men and women who have exceptionally touched the lives of thousands in their communities, through their generosity, their extraordinary work, excellent leadership as well as the advancement of humanity, and will also be a great occasion for local charities to meet and explore more opportunities, exchange ideas and learn from each other.
The winners will be announced at a glittering black-tie ceremony on Friday, September 6, 2019, in the main auditorium on the first floor within Asthma and Allergy Foundation's head quarters in Dyce. Commenting on the quality of entries, one of the panel judges said “It was incredible to see the quality of entries from local charities, the department for work and pensions, HMP Prisons and individuals who do amazing work, which made our job as a panel of judges incredibly difficult in choosing the finalists, director of the year and respiratory lead. Everyone who submitted an entry is a true winner” Pete Preston, president, Aberdeen Lions Club.
Dami Jaiyesimi, health promotion manager at Asthma and Allergy Foundation said: "Looking back at all these success stories and the incredible work that charities do within the Grampian area, charities never would have been able to do this without the unwavering support and the generosity of so many people, companies and local businesses whose contributions and selfless deeds have resulted in so many lives being impacted in our communities and we are saying thank you.
"A big thank you also to our dedicated team of staff and volunteers at Asthma and Allergy Foundation, who always go above and beyond in doing an amazing job."
