Aberdeen Performing Arts is delighted to be able to offer a limited number of complimentary tickets for audio described performances at His Majesty’s Theatre.

APA Customer Service Manager Lynn Hackett said: “Audio description is a service for the visually impaired or blind, where audience members listen through a headset to a description of the set and costumes, as well as a commentary on the action. All this helps to really bring the show to life and it’s a service we are proud to offer.”

A limited number of complimentary tickets are available for new service users, thanks to funding from the Audio Description Association (ADA) Scotland. Tickets are reserved for new users who have not previously attended the theatre to use the audio description service. Attendees will be asked to complete a short survey before and after the performance.

Tickets are available for Shrek on Saturday, March 10 at 2.30pm; Legally Blonde the Musical on Saturday, May 5 at 2.30pm and Sunshine on Leith on Saturday, June 2 at 2.30pm.

To apply for a pair of tickets or for further information on the audio description service at His Majesty’s Theatre, please contact APA’s Customer Services manager on (01224) 337619 or email lynn.hackett@aberdeenperformingarts.com

Touch tours are also available for users of the audio description service and their companions. Touch tours are offered to people with a visual impairment. By inviting people on to the stage, audience members can feel the set, props and costumes which helps build a picture of the performance.

APA also offers BSL-signed and Captioned performances at HMT. For more information about accessible performances, and to check dates, visit aberdeenperformingarts.com or phone the Box Office on (01224) 641122.
