Kiltwalk will make its return to the stunning City and ‘Shire on Sunday May 29. After three years, people across the country will be able to wear their tartan and join fellow walkers in-person to raise funds for a Scottish charity close to their hearts.

The event offers three walking distances to pick from with the Mighty Stride (26 miles), Big Stroll (15 miles) and the Wee Wander (3 miles) so there really is something for everyone. You can expect an amazing day with entertainment, snacks and water along the route and a hot meal at the end. What’s better yet is that you can choose to walk for a Scottish charity that is close to your heart and every single penny raised will be topped up by a HUGE 50% thanks to the generosity of Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation. That means if you raise £100 for your charity, they will received £150!

Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation took over the Kiltwalk in 2016 and since then Scotland’s favourite mass participation event has now raised over £32million for 2,850 charities.

Paul Cooney, Chief Executive of the Kiltwalk, said: “After a challenging couple of years, we are excited to confirm the Kiltwalk will be a physical event in Aberdeen once again. There is nothing like gathering together as a community, so we want our Kiltwalk heroes to get a wee bit of tartan on and stride out for the charities closest to their hearts.”

One charity that is looking forward to the big day is Home-Start Aberdeen. Home-Start is one of Aberdeen’s leading family support charities and Every year provides practical and emotional support to around 200 families who are struggling with issues including financial hardship, social isolation, illness and disability, mental health issues, bereavement and relationship breakdown.

Their aim is to give families the right support from the right person at the right time to help prevent difficulties and challenges escalating into crisis and family breakdown. Services include one-to-one support in the home from a trained volunteer; groups for children and parents; help with cooking and healthy eating; perinatal peer support.

Margaret Ogilvie, a Home visiting volunteer for the charity said “every penny I raise on my Kiltwalk challenge will help Homestart continue their great work with children and families right here in Aberdeen. A small amount can go a long way and make a big difference to us at Homestart and the families we support.”
