A North-east accountancy firm has been announced as the official sponsor of a children’s hospital charity football team.
Fyfe Moir & Associates, based on the city’s Queens Road, will sponsor Team Fire in this year’s Battle of the Badges.
Battle of the Badges is a charity football match between Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and will raise money to support the work of The ARCHIE Foundation.
Alan Moir from Fyfe Moir & Associates said: “As big Don’s fans we loved the idea of the Battle of the Badges match. When we heard about the match we did not hesitate to offer our support.
“We’ve been involved in fundraising for ARCHIE in the past by taking part in abseils and adrenalin drops so this seemed such a natural progression.”
Innes Murray, director of fundraising at The ARCHIE Foundation, said: “Fyfe Moir & Associates have generously offered to sponsor Team Fire in the inaugural Battle of the Badges.
“This is set to be a very exciting game between emergency services staff who are giving up their time to fundraise, train and play.
“The support of Fyfe Moir Associates will allow as much money raised as possible to support our work at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and Dr Gray’s children’s ward in Elgin.”
The first Battle of the Badges will take place on Saturday, June 30, at the Balmoral Stadium in Cove. Team Fire and Team Police will be accompanied onto the pitch by mascots who are all current or former patients of RACH and Dr Grays, and who are supporting the players in their fundraising efforts.
