Music 4 U, an inclusive provider of performing arts classes in Aberdeen and Shire, is reaching out to the local community in search of a skilled carpenter to restore a bench generously awarded to their founder, Debra Baxter, in 2020. The bench, a creation of renowned designer Jay Blades MBE, was presented to Debra Baxter as a symbol of recognition for her unwavering dedication to the community.

Originally placed outside Aberdeen Arts Centre, the bench has weathered the elements over the years. In an effort to preserve its significance and showcase it inside The Ivories Coffee Shop, Music 4 U is on the lookout for a talented local carpenter who can bring the bench back to its original glory.

Debra Baxter, the recipient of the bench, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, "This bench holds sentimental value for Music 4 U and the community it serves. We believe restoring it will not only honor the craftsmanship of Jay Blades MBE, but it will be a fantastic addition to our amazing Ivories Coffee Shop”

The organisation is calling on the community for support and encourages interested carpenters to get in touch. Donna Deans, the contact person for the project, can be reached via email at donna.deans@m4u.org.uk.
