Maggie’s Aberdeen is bringing back the Culture Crawl for 2025 - launching with a flash ticket sale this weekend and a call for walkers.

Now in its eighth year, the event invites hundreds of supporters to walk an 8.5-mile secret route through the city, with surprise venues putting on live entertainment, and refreshments along the way – all in support of people living with cancer. This year’s crawl will take place on Friday, 20th June 2025 from 5.30pm to 11pm.

For a limited time, Maggie’s is launching a flash ticket sale. From 9am on Friday 2nd May until 11pm on Monday 5th May, participants can secure their spot for just £15 instead of the usual £20.

“This event is always a highlight in our calendar. It allows attendees to experience Aberdeen with family and friends from a totally new perspective, while raising money for a great cause. Many walkers will also be returning in gratitude for the support Maggie’s has given them,” commented Richard Stewart, fundraising manager at Maggie’s Aberdeen.

“I cannot wait to see this year’s fundraisers take to the streets in orange to enjoy the best of local culture and raise money for those who need it most. Culture Crawl is always a fun night out with a twist.”

Last year’s Culture Crawl drew 360 walkers and raised vital funds for the centre. Since its launch in 2017, the event has raised over £500,000, with 2,500 walkers participating and hundreds of local venues and partners lending their support.

Steve McLenan, an Aberdeen local and regular at Maggie’s colorectal cancer support group, is walking this year because: “Simply, after all that Maggie’s has done for me, I’d just like to give something back.

“It’s a safe place where we can go to discuss how we are feeling and get advice from the wonderful support team.”

Laura Howell, another centre visitor from Aberdeen, shared how Maggie’s helped her cope during a challenging 18 months.

“I'm sure it goes without saying that going through cancer is tough. It's overwhelming. I find Maggie's offered me some focus and structure in a time of chaos. The classes and courses offer something manageable to focus on and look forward to. I have no idea how I'd have coped without them,” she said.

Steve, Laura, and a team of their Maggie’s friends will be walking to help ensure others continue to receive the same vital support.

“A group of us who regularly meet at the Maggie's kitchen table were keen to take on the Culture Crawl this year, as Maggie's has done so much for us and we really want to give something back," said Laura.

"We hope that with fundraisers like this, Maggie's will continue to be able to offer their invaluable support to everyone affected by cancer. I certainly have no idea how I'd have coped without them.”
