Message of support from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation

In an open letter, Martina Chukwuma-Ezike, chief executive of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation, said:

"We all at Asthma and Allergy Foundation are sending a message of encouragement to the people and families we support, our funders, sponsors and partners at these times of uncertainty due to the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by the outbreak, and you are all in our thoughts now more than ever.

"The work that we do at Asthma and Allergy Foundation to support people living with asthma and allergies to live healthier, fuller lives is extremely important to us. Given the recent measures introduced by the UK/Scottish Government to slow the spread of the COVID-19 and consideration for the vulnerability of our service users, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone all our face-to-face workshops, trainings and events until further notice. Those who have booked to attend workshops or asthma awareness sessions and may be affected by this decision have been contacted directly.

"To protect the health and wellbeing of our team and help with containment, our staff are now working remotely. However, I would like to reassure you that we remain committed to delivering our essential services and we will continue to provide support and advice on how to protect yourself, others and stay healthy during this period via telephone and emails. We will also continue to share resources and updates on our website and social channels over the coming days and weeks.

"If you have any questions or concerns, please call us on 01224 973001 or email info@asthmaandallergy.org.uk and our dedicated team members will be happy to help. I will keep you updated with any further information and hope that Asthma and Allergy Foundation can continue to support you and your families during these difficult times. We are all in this together."
