Murcar Links Golf Club kicked off its 2025 Open fixture list in style on Sunday with the staging of the prestigious Bannerman Trophy Open.

Nearly 60 competitors braved strong winds and chilly temperatures across 36 holes on the renowned championship links.

Despite the testing conditions, it was home club member Neil McKinnon who emerged victorious, carding an impressive two-round total of 148 (+6) to claim this year’s title.

Club manager George Bruce praised both the competitors and the overall event, stating: “The standard of scoring in such difficult conditions is a testament to the strength of the field.

"We were also grateful for the support on the day through the generous sponsorship of Camm-Pro.

"This will hopefully see the Open continue to go from strength to strength.”

The club extended its thanks to all players, volunteers, and sponsors for making the event a success and looks forward to another exciting season ahead.
