Robert Gordon's College is excited
to announce their partnership with Netball
Scotland and mark their ambition to grow
the Netball community across the region. Robert
Gordon's has been at the forefront of developing netball in the
North East and the partnership with Netball Scotland will provide further
opportunity to grow young talent across the country.
Robin Macpherson, Head of Robert Gordon’s College shared: “We’ve
seen significant growth in our Netball programme at Robert Gordon’s and it
makes perfect sense to be partnering with Netball Scotland to take this to the
next level. We have big ambitions to increase participation and performance in
the sport both within our school and across the region, so this partnership is
a really important step forward in meeting those objectives.”
Carol Harvey, Director of Development at Netball Scotland said:
“We are delighted to continue building our infrastructure of partnerships to
support the growth and development of netball across Scotland and formally
welcome Robert Gordon's College to the netball family as a partner supporting
both the growth of netball in the school estate and the wider community.
We are looking forward to supporting development opportunities and increased
participation across the region.”
Craig Harper, Head of Sport at Robert
Gordon's College commented: “We’re really excited about having a big
impact on netball, not only at RGC, but across the wider community the school
is linked with. Our pupils benefit greatly from working with our very
experienced staff who are all involved in developing netball across Aberdeen.
This is another opportunity to strengthen our partnership links and grow our
netball even further, into new areas.”
Nicola Stephen, Head of Netball at
Robert Gordon's College added: “Our current Netball programme
provides dedicated coaching from Monday through to Saturday for Junior and
Senior pupils. This popular programme enables young people of all abilities to
participate in netball from beginner to performance level and so develop a
passion for the game throughout their years at school and beyond. This exciting
partnership with Netball Scotland will enable us to continue to expand our
successful programme and collaborate with communities and schools throughout
the North East and this is something we are very much looking forward to.”
Robert Gordon’s College has a
strong history of supporting the development of young netball players from
playing on the school court to representing their country and pursuing a
professional career. Emma Love, Class of ‘17, is currently representing the
Scottish Thistles (Netball Scotland's Senior National Squad), she was part of
the recent Triangular Series in South Africa and was part of Team Scotland at
the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Emma is also a training partner who is
supporting the Strathclyde Sirens, Scotland's only professional
netball team, who are currently playing in the Netball
Super League.
