In May, several local businesses swapped a day in the office for a day of Footie, in a bid to raise cash for young families in the North-east.
Local Steel and Cladding company, KR Group, invited clients and associates to a 5-aside football tournament at Strikers Indoor Football Club in Aberdeen. The day was well attended and saw businesses such as Motive Offshore Group, Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace, and Keith Builders Merchants arrive in personalised football strips.
Also taking part, were Nu-Style Products, Transform, W M Donald, DYW Northeast, and of course, Scotia Homes who won the final and took home the trophy.
KR Group absorbed all costs from the day, ensuring all proceeds went to AberNecessities. The event raised £960 as well as gathering over £500 worth of essential items for babies and children. Further support also came from Fowler McKenzie, who despite not being able to attend, contributed a generous donation.
KR Group’s Managing Director, Kenny Robertson, was one of the players in KR Group’s team. “After the last couple of years, it was a great day and a chance to reconnect face to face with other local businesses.
He continues, “It was a good bit of competitive fun but also an opportunity to raise some cash for babies and kids in what is a tough time for a lot of families. AberNecessities are doing great things just now which is why we chose them as our charity for the year.”
AberNecessities provides disadvantaged families with the essential and basic necessities, such as maternity bundles for mother and baby, nappies, formula milk, clothing, toys and equipment for children aged 0-18 years.
“We have already started discussing next year’s tournament,” concludes Kenny. “We want to go bigger, better, and raise even more cash for good causes. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year, and some new faces too.”
