OGTC Awards Catering Contract to Local Catering Collective

The Oil & Gas Technology Centre has awarded the exclusive catering contract for the newly-opened Innovation Hub to a collective of three locally-owned businesses.

Local drinksmith’s, 10 Dollar Shake, have teamed up with caterer, Salt & Sauce, and Holburn Street-based grilled cheese toastie shop, Melt, to provide food and drink services for all the Technology Centre’s events over the next 12 months

Up to 100 events, including workshops, technology showcases and tech talks, will take place each year, utilising the skills and experience of each partner in the collective for different aspects of the contract, from delegate breakfasts and light lunches to evening canapes and drinks receptions.

The Oil & Gas Technology Centre was established in October 2016 with £180m funding as part of the Aberdeen City Region Deal. As an industry-led research and knowledge organisation, it is backed by both the UK and Scottish governments to fund and direct projects that help to unlock the full potential of the UK North Sea. It aims to be the go-to technology centre for the oil and gas industry in the UK and internationally.

Luca Corradi, innovation network director for the Oil & Gas Technology Centre, said: “Many of the companies involved in the construction and ongoing services for the Innovation Hub, including 10 Dollar Shake, Salt & Sauce and Melt, are based in the North-east of Scotland. We want the local supply chain to thrive and grow, so supporting businesses in the region is a key part of that. We look forward to sampling the collective’s high-quality food and drinks over the next 12 months.

10 Dollar Shake was founded in 2010 and currently operates a thriving events division, along with Belmont Street venues The Tippling House, Rye & Soda and Bos’n. 10 Dollar Shake co-founder Adrian Gomes has worked alongside Salt & Sauce’s Chris Tonner for a number of years, providing a food and drink partnership at a number of events such as weddings, corporate functions and house parties.

Salt & Sauce was formed at the end of 2016 to provide contemporary-themed canapes, BBQ’s, hog roasts and family-style dining for clients.

Earlier that year, Melt was created by Mechelle Clark, a former oil and gas industry worker who was made redundant during the recent downturn. Melt was recently named as one of the top ten grilled cheese shops in the UK by The Telegraph.
