Working in partnership, ClubSport Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire ClubSport are looking to establish a Youth Forum focused on ensuring that young people in the North East have the opportunity to be part of shaping the future of sport and physical activity in the area.

Aberdeenshire ClubSport is heavily involved with helping to form a 'North East Youth Sports Panel' and are keen to see it become a success. The voices of the next generation must be not only listened to but heard as they are our future decision-makers and committees.

This opportunity is not just open to 'sporty' minded young people. There will be many opportunities within the committee - for example, an accountant who is interested in the voluntary sector could become the treasurer, a young aspiring politician could become Chair and find out what sport really needs at grassroots community level.

The task is to develop a regional youth panel with an ‘ideal’ structure of 10-12 participants, aged 14-23 years, made up of the following:

• North – secondary pupil, NES College Student, University Student
• South – secondary pupil, NES College Student, University Student
• City – secondary pupil, NES College Student, University Student
• Disability – 2 or 3 reps from different sporting backgrounds

Ultimately, it is the intention that the members will have the responsibility of determining the key aims and objectives for the panel to action and progress. However, in order to support this and provide an outline the following broad structural aims have been produced:
1. Raising the profile of sport through the vehicle of the panel with the goal to develop greater participation in sport and physical activity
2. Influencing the shape of development for the future direction of sport with a goal of widening the diversity of opportunities
