Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) is delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Davidson as its new Chief Executive.
Peter succeeds Liz Bowie, who stepped down in September after five years of exceptional service to the charity.
A lifelong Dons fan, Peter emerged as the outstanding candidate from an extensive search process and will officially take up the post on the 3rd of November 2025.
Interim Chair of AFCCT, Matt Nicol, said: “As the Trust enters its second decade of delivering vital support to communities across the North-East, the Board is delighted to welcome Peter Davidson as our new Chief Executive.
“The need for our services in Aberdeen City and Shire is undeniable and continues to grow. Under Peter’s leadership, and with the continued dedication of our outstanding team, I am confident the Trust will go from strength to strength, delivering our award-winning programmes to even more people across the region.
“AFCCT is a unique, high-profile and impactful charity, currently supporting more than 10,000 people each year through targeted initiatives tackling child poverty, reducing social isolation and improving mental wellbeing.
“The Board looks forward to working with Peter and the team as we embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead — together with our partners and stakeholders.”
Peter brings a wealth of experience across the private, public and third sectors.
He was the founder and Chief Executive of the award-winning Montrose FC Community Trust, where he successfully secured multi-million-pound funding for a range of community facilities and initiatives.
During his time at Montrose, Peter also served on the Boards of the European Football for Development Network (EFDN) and the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL), helping to shape community and development strategy both nationally and internationally.
In addition to his football and community leadership roles, Peter has held senior positions with several organisations, including NHS Tayside, where he served as a Non-Executive Board Member and Chair of the Charitable Funds Committee for the NHS Tayside Charitable Foundation.
Most recently, he was Director of Fundraising at Camphill Estates, an Aberdeen-based charity supporting children, young people and adults with learning disabilities and complex additional support needs.
Incoming AFCCT Chief Executive, Peter Davidson, said: “I am honoured to take on the role of Chief Executive at Aberdeen FC Community Trust.
“As someone born in this city and a lifelong Dons supporter, it’s a privilege to lead an organisation that plays such a vital role in our community.
“I look forward to representing Aberdeen FC Community Trust and working closely with the AFCCT Board, staff, volunteers and our many partners to strengthen our civic impact and ensure football continues to change lives across the North-East.”
Established in March 2014, Aberdeen FC Community Trust exists “to provide support and opportunity to change lives for the better.”
The Trust works with people of all ages and backgrounds to maximise the potential of our communities and improve physical and mental wellbeing. Its focus is on inspiring and empowering Aberdonians — particularly the next generation — through education, positive destinations, football, health and wellbeing.
AFCCT’s work aligns with local, national and international frameworks aimed at reducing poverty and inequality while improving health, wellbeing and educational outcomes across the region.
Aberdeen FC Chief Executive, Alan Burrows, added: “The Club is delighted to welcome Peter to this role, and we look forward to his tenure leading the Community Trust.
“The Trust is the heart and soul of Aberdeen Football Club, and we remain fully committed to continuing and growing the many outstanding initiatives and programmes that mean so much to people and communities.
“Being Aberdeen’s biggest supporter is at the core of our strategy, and that commitment takes many forms — one of the most important being the work of the Trust in making a genuine difference to people’s lives across the city and wider area.
“The Club, its representatives on the AFCCT Board, and all our staff look forward to this new era with a real sense of optimism and confidence in what lies ahead.”
