Port of Aberdeen has appointed Neil McIntosh as its new head of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) as the organisation maintains its laser-like focus on safe operations and a Zero Harm culture.
Neil joined the port as a member of the executive leadership team on Monday 14 July and reports to chief executive, Bob Sanguinetti DL. With more than 20 years’ experience in senior SHEQ roles across diverse industries and global operations – most recently as Group HSEQ and sustainability manager with TWMA – Neil's well versed in implementing strategies that ensure safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
In his new role, Neil will be responsible for SHEQ across the organisation and will play a key role in Port of Aberdeen’s drive to become the UK’s first net zero port by 2040.
Neil has taken over as head of SHEQ from Naveed Qamar, who retired on 22 July after three years in the position.
Bob Sanguinetti DL, CEO, Port of Aberdeen, said: “We are delighted to welcome Neil to Port of Aberdeen at such an important time in our journey. His appointment reflects our commitment to attracting the very best talent to deliver on our strategy and ambitions. Neil’s extensive experience in safety, health, environment, and quality, along with his understanding of the wider energy, construction and civil engineering industries, will be a great asset to the port.
“The safety and wellbeing of our people and port users, and the protection of our environment, remain at the heart of everything we do. Neil will be instrumental in advancing our Zero Harm approach, fostering collaboration and innovation to ensure we continually raise the bar across our operations.”
Commenting on his appointment, Neil McIntosh said: “It is a privilege to take on the role of Head of SHEQ at Port of Aberdeen. The port’s commitment to its people, its stakeholders, and the environment is clear, and I am eager to play my part in driving that forward.
“Zero Harm is about creating a culture where safety, health, environment, and quality are embedded in everything we do, and I am looking forward to collaborating with the port team and our stakeholders to make that culture even stronger.”
