The inaugural Whisky Week will run from September 5 to September 15 and this is your call to get involved!

The festival came to fruition when two Aberdeen businessmen came together over the love of Scotland's liquid gold and their passion for celebrating what the city has to offer. Charlie Bain of Slanjj - a specialist whisky merchandiser who has spent years working at dozens of whisky festivals across the UK and beyond. Gregor Sey, the entrepreneur behind Aberdeen Cocktail Week (due to return again in October) and a string of food & drink firms.

The format of Whisky Week will be similar to that of Aberdeen Cocktail Week, whereby attendees purchase a wristband that unlocks access to exclusive menus in participating bars as well as a programme of events, tastings and whisky-inspired foodie experiences.

More than 25 venues have already signed up for Whisky Week, including old local favourites such as The Grill, St Machar Bar, and McGintys as well as new bars like Bartenders Lounge, Siberia and The Firepit from Smoke & Soul.

Gregor shared that “Whisky Week is not exclusively for whisky enthusiasts, it’s also for people like me who simply enjoy whisky whether neat, mixed or in a cocktail and are looking for an excuse to explore the city. Charlie and I are out to create an event that is accessible to the next generation of whisky fans as well as providing an experience even the most seasoned whisky drinker will enjoy”

Charlie added “I’ve been fortunate to attend dozens of whisky festivals, but none of them I’ve attended have this format that encourages attendees to explore the city. I think Aberdeen really punches above its weight when it comes to the range of bars and pubs on offer and I hope that Whisky Week can showcase that to locals and tourists alike”

The festival will be announced to the public in the coming weeks, until then bars and businesses that are interested in getting involved - whether it is walking tours, food experiences, tastings or other whisky-related ideas - are advised to get in touch now by completing the form at https://whiskyweek.co.uk/#partner or contact Gregor at gregor@cocktailevents.uk
