RGU’s Prof. Paul de Leeuw to deliver insightful professorial lecture

Director of Robert Gordon University’s (RGU) Oil and Gas Institute, Professor Paul de Leeuw, is to deliver a keynote professorial lecture focusing on megatrends and the affect they have on our everyday lives.

Prof de Leeuw’s lecture, ‘Making the trend your friend’, will take place at RGU’s Sir Ian Wood Building on Wednesday, May 16 at 6pm.

The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will shed light on some of the key trends affecting our lives at the moment and discuss the implications that these trends may have on how we live and work in the future.

Paul commented: “This lecture will provide an overview of some of the major trends which are prevalent in our lives at the moment, from climate change and the environment, to technology, innovation and globalisation, and how these may impact upon our lives in the future.

“It will also provide an opportunity for me to reflect on these trends specifically from an energy industry perspective as we enter into a new industrial era where automation, robotics and artificial Intelligence will play a major role in the sector’s development.”

With a career spanning over 30 years, Professor de Leeuw has worked for a number of companies, including Shell, Marathon Oil, Amoco, BP, Venture Production and Centrica Energy.

He is currently chairman of the Oil and Gas Innovation Centre, chairman of PlanSea, a board member of the Oil and Gas Technology Centre and a governor of Robert Gordon College. He is also a regular commentator on developments in the oil and gas industry.
