The River Dee Trust has welcomed the continued commitment and generous support of Ithaca Energy, reaffirming the importance of strong corporate partnerships in delivering long-term river restoration and conservation across the Dee catchment.
Since Ithaca Energy became one of the first organisations to join the River Dee Guardian programme in 2024, the partnership has gone from strength to strength.
As a River Dee Guardian, Ithaca Energy provides an annual donation and recognises the Trust as a valued charity partner. This support was enhanced in December with an additional donation of £24,125. A further commitment this month, of £25,000, sees Ithaca Energy extending its support for the River Dee Trust into 2026.
The relationship goes beyond simply financial support. As Claire Fleming engagement officer, at the River Dee Trust explains:
In a changing funding landscape, corporate support is essential to enable our vital river restoration and conservation work. What has been particularly exciting about growing our community of River Dee Guardians is the meaningful, long-term relationships we are building with our partners.”
“Ithaca Energy is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when financial support is matched with genuine engagement.”
In addition to funding, Ithaca Energy teams have contributed 1,350 hours of hands‑on support in all weathers. Volunteers have worked alongside Trust staff to build debris dams - small structures made from locally sourced natural materials that help regulate water flow - remove thousands of remnant plastic tree tubes and clear many kilometres of invasive plant species from riverbanks.
Claire continues:
“The commitment shown by Ithaca’s volunteers has been incredible. It has been fantastic and it is encouraging to see individuals continuing to volunteer with us in their own time, which speaks volumes about the strength of this partnership.”
Looking ahead, the River Dee Trust is preparing to welcome Ithaca Energy’s IT team to the riverbank in March, where volunteers will take part in tree planting as part of the Trust’s wider One Million Trees campaign.
Luciano Vasques, CEO Ithaca Energy said:
“We are proud to continue our partnership with the River Dee Trust and to play a role in protecting and restoring such an important natural asset for our region. The Trust’s work delivers real, lasting impact, and it’s been inspiring for our teams to contribute not only through funding, but through hands‑on volunteering with our Charity Partner.”
“Seeing colleagues return to support activities speaks to the strength of this partnership and the shared commitment to safeguarding the River Dee for future generations. We look forward to building on this collaboration in the years ahead and supporting the Trust’s plans, including the One Million Trees campaign.”
