The annual Aberdeen Cultural Summit returns on Wednesday 3 September 2025, bringing together leading voices from Scotland’s cultural and creative industries to develop a shared vision for the future of the screen sector in the North-east.
Taking place in the Sir Ian Wood Building at Robert Gordon University, the Summit will run from 10:00 to 16:00 and is free to attend.
Launched in 2023, the Aberdeen Cultural Summit is a research-and-outcome-driven partnership between Robert Gordon University (RGU), North East Scotland College (NESCol), the University of Aberdeen, and local stakeholders. Each year, it provides a platform for dialogue and collaboration across cultural institutions, local authorities, and higher and further education.
This year’s theme, “A Shared Vision for Screen North East”, will encourage conversation on how the screen sector can act as a catalyst for cultural regeneration and economic recovery in the region. Delegates will also explore lessons from other cities with similar geographies and challenges that have successfully developed strong screen and creative economies.
The programme will feature:
- Keynote speakers:
- Eloise Grey – Screen Aberdeenshire
- Tiernan Kelly – Film City Glasgow
- With additional input from David Smith – Screen Scotland
- Workshops and screenings addressing:
- Industry and Production
- Education and Skills
- Exhibition and Distribution
- Community and Independent Film
- Interactive Media and Content Creation
