The Scottish Green Party has vowed that there should be "absolutely no new oil and gas fields in the North Sea".

The party's election manifesto sets out its opposition to the granting of a licence for Rosebank near Shetland, and the new gas-fired power plant in Peterhead.

The P&J reports Co-Leader Ross Greer said: “We’re proud to say, the Scottish Greens are proud to be the only party in this election saying there can be absolutely no new oil and gas fields in the North Sea."

The BBC reports the Scottish Greens are vowing to deliver 40,000 new green energy jobs and stretch the powers of devolution "to their limits" in a bid to deliver a "fairer and better future".

In its coverage of the manifesto, The Times leads on proposals to introduce more than a dozen new taxes and raise others, causing "widespread alarm among businesses".

Possible new taxes include on retailers, domestic flights, tourists and going to sports stadiums.

The Scottish Green Party says the funds generated would be used to tackle climate change and support schemes such as free bus travel for all.

Greer also promised to scrap and replace "outdated" and "unfair" council tax.
