Show and tell by Jack Davidson

Show and Tell by Jack Davidson: February 6 - 17, 2018

Artist Talk: Saturday, February 17, 3-4pm

Curated by Naoko Mabon.

Presented by Peacock Visual Arts as part of W OR M / OPEN programme.

Supported by Aberdeen City Council and Robert Gordon University.

Peacock Visual Arts is delighted to present, Show and Tell, a showcase of work by Jack Davidson (b.1958, Aberdeen).

After graduating from Gray’s School of Art in 1981, Davidson moved to London. He then lived in New York for 15 years before moving to Barcelona, where he has been based since 2001. Davidson has exhibited extensively in the US and Europe, but never in his native country, Scotland. This will therefore be a unique opportunity to be able to share the journey of a locally born, now internationally recognised, artist with the city and people of Aberdeen.

Artist Talk

Jack Davidson will be in conversation with the independent curator, Naoko Mabon and Keith Grant, head of painting department of Gray’ School of Art.

The talk will focus of themes related to Davidson’s career path; comparing Aberdeen’s art scene in the 70-80s to the present day; discovering how one Aberdeen artist ‘made it’ on the international art scene; and consider the role of ‘nation’ in contemporary society and what this may mean for artists - especially Catalonia, Scotland and the European Union.

The discussion includes a Q & A with the audience.

This event is free but spaces are limited so booking essential: http://www.peacockvisualarts.com/
