An Aberdeen-based charity, Somebody Cares SCIO has announced the appointment of Patricia Nnanna and Ryan Swan to its board of trustees.

Patricia Nnanna joins the board effective May 1st, 2025. She brings valuable expertise in data analytics and marketing to the charity, complemented by her volunteering experience. Patricia has been a dedicated volunteer with the charity for several years and has served as board secretary since November 2024.

Ryan Swan, director of assets at Osprey Housing, joins the board effective May 16th, 2025. He brings a wealth of experience in project management across multiple sectors, including construction and not-for-profit organisations.

"Patricia's deep understanding of our mission, combined with her professional skillset, makes her an exceptional addition to our board of trustees," said Gordon Cowan, chair of the board of trustees. "Ryan's extensive project management experience and insight from the housing sector will further strengthen our governance. Together, they bring complementary skills that will help drive our strategic initiatives forward."

The two new trustees join four existing board members, and their appointments coincide with the departure of Ben Holden, who will step down at the end of May after five years of distinguished service on the board.

Yekemi Otaru, chief executive at Somebody Cares, notes: "We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ben for his unwavering commitment and significant contributions during his tenure. His leadership has been instrumental in guiding our organisation through important transition, growth and development."

Founded in 2002, Somebody Cares is one of Aberdeen’s most active charities, positively impacted around 13,000 a year through its free home furniture provision and food bank.
