Aberdeen Performing Arts has unveiled a bold new season for the Lemon Tree with a packed programme of gigs, shows and events guaranteed to thrill, delight and entertain everyone from audiences who know and love the iconic city centre venue, to those looking for something fresh and new.

Audiences will be invited to Delve into the North Isles in February, with a weekend of music, food, film, spoken word and more dedicated to the unique artistry of the Scotland’s Northern Islands, while brand new children’s festive production A Land Beyond Winter will transform the Lemon Tree into a winter wonderland this December.

Music lovers of all genres will be well catered for with GUN on Thursday, December 11, Frank Turner on Sunday, September 21 and Jesca Hoop and Rachel Sermanni on Sunday, December 7.

Aberdeen Comedy Festival will bring some of the UK’s funniest rising stars and established comedy names to the venue from Monday 22 September to Sunday 5 October, while a brand new Aberdeen Queer Arts Festival will celebrate LGBTQ+ talent from Thursday, November 6 to Sunday, November 9.

Aberdeen Performing Arts Director of Programming and Creative Projects, Ben Torrie, said: “The Lemon Tree is a hub of creativity, community and culture and it holds special memories for so many of us.

“From old friends to first-timers, we’re always looking to welcome new and innovative talent to our stages as well as celebrating the fantastic community that has grown with our returning artists who always love the warm welcome they receive from our Lemon Tree audiences.”

Ben added: “This new season has room for all of it and more. Our Lemon Tree Christmas Show for 2026, A Land Beyond Winter, is the first of three shows that we have newly commissioned along with Capital Theatres in Edinburgh and Eden Court in Inverness and promises to warm hearts and inspire imaginations this December.

“Delve will be a deep dive into what makes the North Isles such a rich breeding ground for music, poetry and art over an incredible weekend of specially curated events.

“The future is looking bright for the Lemon Tree and we can’t wait to see where this new season takes us!”

The new season comes as a series of upgrades and improvements at the iconic city centre venue have been completed, including repointing the exterior of the building, new signage, updated fire equipment, new flooring, re-painting, replacement of the stage floor in the studio and new automated seating bank and an updated access system.

A new fundraising initiative launched to support the venue offers the chance to become part of the fabric of the Lemon Tree, by sponsoring a step. A space on each of the 25 steps between the Lounge and the Studio is up for grabs in return for a donation of £200, which will go to support the work that Aberdeen Performing Arts does for arts and culture across the North East.
