Aberdeen City Council is hosting a State of the Cities Conference, where the Economic Policy Review of Aberdeen will be launched.

The Aberdeen City Region is one of opportunity, ambition and innovation - a dynamic and talent-rich area proud of its heritage and invested in its future.

Focus will be placed upon the current economic climate of the city whilst looking to the future and learning from the experiences of other key cities.

Renowned as a global energy hub, the Aberdeen City Region is a vibrant and entrepreneurial part of Scotland which is home to a unique mix of business opportunities and specialist skills across various sectors including energy, technology, life sciences and food, drink and agriculture.

Aberdeen City Council was the first Scottish local authority to successfully secure index linked bonds of £370m, demonstrating the strength of commitment to both the city and the Council by the investment community.

More than 20% of Scotland’s leading businesses are located in our region, which is taking great strides to ensure that it continues to compete on a world stage. Aberdeen is in the midst of a transformational journey designed to drive an economic revitalisation, bringing benefits to the region, Scotland and the UK overall now and for generations to come.

More than £8bn of public and private infrastructure investment is due to be delivered before 2030, marking an exciting time to be part of the region’s renaissance.
