Children’s charity The Archie Foundation has appointed Ruth McIntosh as its first relationships and database manager.
In this newly created role, Ruth’s responsibilities will include overseeing prospect research, donor stewardship and database management functions as part of the charity’s fundraising team.
She brings almost a decade of experience in the third sector to the post, specialising in building relationships, driving commercial growth and managing high-impact corporate partnerships and flagship events.
Prior to joining the team at Archie, Ruth was business development manager at CLAN Cancer Support, leading on corporate fundraising and developing new strategic partnerships across the North-east, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.
Other posts with CLAN included fundraising as well as charity development manager, where she worked on high-profile projects such as the various sculpture trails.
She initially started working with the organisation on a temporary maternity cover contract, a role she said “unexpectedly opened the door to a deeply fulfilling career in the third sector”.

“The opportunity to work with the Archie Foundation appealed to me because of the compassion and dedication it shows in making a real difference to children and families during incredibly difficult times,” said Ruth. “Being located in the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, and seeing the impact of the charity first hand, is something I know will continually motivate me to succeed in my role.
“This is a much loved and well-established organisation and through conversations with people who have received support and by observing its activity and impact I’ve always felt inspired by what the small team achieves.
“This new position brings together two things I care deeply about: data-led insight and human connection. It’s a chance to support change through strategic relationship management and robust systems.”
Kelly M. Anderson, head of fundraising at The Archie Foundation, said Ruth’s background and expertise will be a great asset to the team.
“In addition to optimising our CRM database, Ruth will plan and manage our engagement and stewardship programme to maximise the effectiveness of our fundraising activities and help us to reach and support even more children and families. She’ll also provide training and support to the rest of the team to ensure that we all understand how to use the database effectively to support our work.”
Ruth graduated from the University of Aberdeen with an MA in Management and Philosophy and began her career working in operations and logistics roles in the oil and gas industry. She also spent four years volunteering as a Special Constable with Police Scotland.
Outside of work, Ruth enjoys hillwalking and spending times outdoors and is a keen wildlife photographer, with a particular interest in capturing Scotland’s natural beauty – a combination of interests she says gives her energy and balance in both her personal and professional life.
