AKR Fitness is marking four years of supporting local charity AberNecessities by contributing more than £33,000 to help children and families across the North-east.

The initiative is built on a simple model: AKR contributes £2 from every membership each month, with many members choosing to match that donation. Over time, these consistent contributions have grown into meaningful support for families experiencing hardship.

To date, the initiative has helped provide essential items – including clothing, newborn bundles, and beds – to more than 240 children.

“At AKR, we’re focused on helping people feel fitter, stronger, and more capable so they can get more out of life,” said Mike MacDonald, founder of AKR Fitness. “Supporting AberNecessities is one way we extend that into the wider community.”

Danielle Flecher-Horn, Founder of AberNecessities, said: “Support like this makes a genuine difference. The consistency of AKR Fitness over the past four years has helped us reach more children and families across the North-east – providing essential items at times when they are needed most.”

AberNecessities supports families living in poverty by providing essential items for babies and children – helping to ensure that no child goes without.
