A communications group has made a donation to help build a new wing for Scotland’s only specialist neurological centre.

Jasmine, which is based in East Tullos, raised £1,000 from staff quiz nights, individual donations and auctions to support the Sue Ryder Dee View Court appeal.

Jasmine, which employs 40 people, is an Aberdeen-based communication business engaged in marketing, advertising, PR, print, digital media, emergency media response and document management solutions.

The donation will pay towards a ‘brick’ to help build an additional twenty more specially adapted bedrooms at the charity’s Aberdeen-based neurological care centre

Dee View Court is a purpose-built specialist neurological care centre based in the Kincorth area of Aberdeen. It provides round-the-clock care for people aged 18-65 living with complex and progressive conditions including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, and acquired brain injuries such as through stroke or road traffic accidents.

The centre’s expert care team includes nurses, care assistants, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, who are specialists in supporting the physical, communicative, cognitive, behavioural, psychological, and mental health needs of people with neurological conditions.

Sue Ryder has so far raised more than £2.78m towards its £3.9m target, which will double the capacity of the centre. The centre is due to open its doors to its new residents in autumn 2019.

Danny Cowie, Jasmine managing director, said: “The whole team has got behind supporting the Brick by Brick campaign, and we all had great fun doing so. Dee View Court is an impressive facility to have in Aberdeen, and the work it does is unrivalled. The extension will provide much-needed care for those unfortunate to have conditions which will never improve, enabling them to have the best quality of life possible.”

Dee View Court capital appeal manager, Emma Leiper Finlayson, commented: “We are extremely grateful to Jasmine for its support of our Brick by Brick initiative. Jasmine was one of the first companies to sign up to raise a brick for our appeal and their support is particularly meaningful as we close in on our final million and finish the project. With our waiting list sitting at more than double our existing capacity of 24 people, there is a real urgency to complete our 20 new bedrooms and start caring for more people who need our help to live well and thrive.”
