Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) was the first establishment of its kind in Scotland to receive a healthyliving award back in 2009 and can proudly confirm retention of this award for yet another year.
The healthyliving award was launched in August 2006 and is a national award for the foodservice sector in Scotland.
Caterers play an important role in influencing what their customers eat, AECC has been recognised and rewarded for making it easier for customers to make healthy choices while at the venue.
The award criteria is based on the general principles of a healthy balanced diet and have been developed to be in keeping with Scottish dietary targets. Simple changes to the way a caterer works can make a significant difference to their business.
AECC’s executive head chef, Brian McDonald, said: “We are delighted that our efforts in providing homemade, healthier options to our visitors has been recognised in such a way. To be the first exhibition and conference venue in Scotland to receive a healthyliving award back in 2009 was a tremendous achievement, nine years on, our continued commitment to healthy choices remains key to our offering here at the venue.”
“Over the years it has becoming increasingly important for caterers to provide healthy food alternatives, at the AECC we are constantly developing our menus to offer something new for our customers.”
