For over 40 years, Instant Neighbour has supported individuals and families across Aberdeen City and Shire to establish safe, dignified homes and improve their quality of life.
Today, Instant Neighbour operates at the intersection of poverty prevention, sustainability, employability and circular economy.
Instant Neighbour is seeking a forward-thinking business partner to help it expand its environmental and social impact by making available vacant or underutilised premises within Aberdeen City.
Demand for affordable furniture and household essentials continues to rise, alongside growing recognition of the need to reduce waste and support reuse across the North-east.
With additional space, Instant Neighbour can significantly expand its online furniture preparation and storage capacity, dedicated furniture upcycling initiative, a mattress cleaning and reuse project, reducing landfill and supporting low-income households, structured volunteering and employability placements to support individuals furthest from the job market.
This expansion would increase both Instant Neighbour's environmental impact and its capacity to provide meaningful skills development opportunities, strengthening financial sustainability through our trading activities.
What Instant Neighbour is looking for
Instant Neighbour requires approximately 3,000–5,000 sq ft of space within Aberdeen City, ideally including: heating, toilet and kitchen facilities, office space and access suitable for Luton vans.
As a registered charity, Instant Neighbour is seeking premises on a rent-free basis. Property owners may benefit from business rates relief, reducing holding costs while delivering clear, measurable social value.
Partnering with Instant Neighbour offers businesses the opportunity to deliver tangible local CSR impact, contribute to Scotland’s circular economy ambitions, reduce waste and landfill through reuse initiatives, support volunteering, staff engagement and team development, enable employability and skills-building opportunities for people facing barriers to work, demonstrate visible community leadership in the North-east, transform vacant commercial assets into measurable social and environmental impact.
This is more than a property arrangement — it is a partnership that converts unused space into environmental benefit, employment pathways and stronger local communities.
If your organisation owns, manages, or is aware of suitable vacant premises in Aberdeen City, Instant Neighbour would welcome a conversation about how this opportunity could align with your corporate responsibility and sustainability goals.
