The Kilted Chef Craig Wilson has teamed up with Bare, a sustainable living shop based in Ellon to bring some festive spice into your kitchen this Christmas.

Working closely with Kirtsy Colvin, Owner of Bare, Craig has created a delicious festive spiced loaf recipe which you can make in the comfort of your own kitchen. Thanks to Kirsty’s hugely popular meal kits, all the ingredients needed to make this luxury fruit loaf are carefully measured out into a handy recipe bag. Craig has also created a cook-along video which can be accessed by scanning a QR code on the recipe. He will demonstrate how to create this delicious festive bread, which is wonderfully rich and fruity, delicately spiced to fill your kitchen with the aroma of this special time of year.

Craig Wilson, Owner of Eat on the Green comments, “I’ve been a huge fan of Bare and the whole ethos behind it, Kirsty is a real advocate for sustainable living, reducing food waste and promoting healthy eating by cooking meals using fresh, local ingredients. She has done an amazing job with Bare and I loved the concept of their popular meal kits, so I approached Kirsty with the idea of doing an exclusive Christmas recipe.

“My luxury festive spiced fruit loaf is sugar free and is bursting with juicy fruits including cherries, cranberries, raisins and currants. It is delicately spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, mixed spice and a hint of turmeric and fiery black pepper. It’s easy to make, with the dry ingredients you need in the recipe kit bag, you will only need to supply butter, vanilla and a little milk. So put on the Christmas music and I’ll join you in the kitchen on my cook-along video to help you along the way.

“The loaf is really versatile for the Christmas holidays. Enjoy it lightly toasted with your favourite Christmas jam or curd and a nice cup of tea, create a unique centrepiece for your cheeseboard, with a baked camembert in the middle or slice and dip in beaten egg for a Boxing Day brunch of eggy bread, bacon and maple syrup. It would also make the perfect gift when visiting friends or a delicious Secret Santa present. You could even buy the kit and gift it to your foodie friend or relative.”

Bare is located in Neil Ross Square Ellon and opened three years ago. The meal kit bags support a range of local producers and provides the required ingredients to make a meal for four people. They change weekly and include four different recipe options, often a hearty soup, pasta dish or curry. In store they also have a re-fillery dry store stock, extensive cheese cabinet and freshly baked breads and sweet goods from local suppliers. Their range also includes sustainable cleaning and shampoo products.

Kirsty Colvin, Owner of Bare says, “When Craig approached me about collaborating on a Christmas recipe kit, I was really keen to explore what we could produce. The recipe kits have remained a very popular seller at Bare and I am always looking for new dishes and ideas to keep them interesting and celebrate the excellent produce we have here in Aberdeenshire. This is a unique opportunity to bring Craig into your kitchen and create a delicious Christmas inspired bread, that you can enjoy with the whole family. It’s a must-try!”

The exclusive Kilted Chef luxury winter spiced loaf recipe kit will be available to buy from Bare until New Year and is priced at £10.

Kilted Chef Craig Wilson also recently teamed up with The Gin Bothy to launch his second small batch, artisan gin called Fireside Gin.
