Siberia Bar & Hotel’s chef Mickey Robertson has, once again, hit headlines after a promotional video for the Belmont Street bar’s latest food offering reached a Worldwide audience this week.

The video (which can be viewed on the bars social media channels - @siberiaaberdeen), advertising the bar’s new “Scottish Fried Chicken” offering, was a parody of the famous “Choose Life” speech from 1996’s Danny Boyle classic Trainspotting. The clip, which was shot across various city landmarks and edited in the same day by business development manager Scott Anderson, focuses not only on the new product, but also on Aberdeen as a city. A large emphais was placed on the importance of shopping local and caring about the people who work hard to make Siberia what it is. Cameos from Attic Clothing on Union Street and The Hatch at 99 on Back Wynd further embraced the local angle.

Scottish Fried Chicken, a Chicken burger with whiskey and black pepper slaw and Irn Bru hot sauce, is available now from the bar (and also forms part of their Aberdeen Restaurant Week menu), costing £9 (with a complimentary side dish of the customers choosing).

Chef Mickey Robertson, who has just returned to the company ahead of an exciting food development phase, stated, “Our aim at Siberia this year is to make food fun again, and I think, with this video, we did just that! Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks!”

The bar will take part in this year’s Aberdeen Restaurant week with a 2 and 3-course menu available from Monday, January 16, while also hosting a Burns Supper from January 25-27.
