Kayleigh’s Wee Stars was set up in 2012 by Jonathan and Anna Cordiner after losing their two year old daughter Kayleigh to terminal illness. They set up the charity in Kayleigh’s name to support other families facing the same unimaginable situation.
Everyone’s circumstances are different and a grant from Kayleigh’s Wee Stars aims to allow families to spend time together when it matters most. Grants are used to alleviate added financial pressure or to fund activities so that families can make precious memories together.
Kayleigh’s Wee Stars is a small charity based in Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire, working across the whole of Scotland.
Formed in 1950, Mental Health Aberdeen (MHA) is in the midst of its 72nd year supporting local people, organisations and companies that together make up the local community. First and foremost, the charity exists to provide counselling support to those individuals affected by mental ill-health, but information and signposting to other specialised agencies is also a large part of service delivery as well as a growing training service. MHA is the “umbrella” for 6 individual projects that deliver services to their respective target groups and people aged from five years old. In the 12 months prior to the onset of Lockdown, close to 20,000 individual face to face counselling sessions were delivered. The charity now employs 55 hugely experienced staff (a mix of full and part time) and plays an integral role in the overall provision of Mental Health services in Aberdeen City.
